A backpack of support for children affected by war
Millions of Ukrainian children today need help, consolation, and support. To remind them that they are not alone and to help restore their own emotional state, in cooperation with psychologists the Dobrodiy Club created an emergency backpack.
It includes personal hygiene; plaid; pleasant and cute things: a toy, a healthy lollipop; creative set.
To make this set as supportive as possible for children, it contains:
- pencils, plasticine – we selected safe materials, in using each of them we took care not only of the artistic properties but also of the control that children can feel holding them in their hands.
- colored paper, white paper, children’s scissors, patriotic coloring pages, an angel amulet – stress and trauma can affect our imagination. It can be difficult for children to concentrate and create their own images and drawings. The greater the anxiety, the greater the need for a structured space may be. Coloring pages that have clear boundaries that suggest a theme, but leave room for creativity in the choice of colors and strokes, can also be a therapeutic tool.
- the plaid in this set is not only to be warmer but also to regain a sense of body boundaries, which is very important in conditions of complete uncertainty and stress.
The cost of one backpack is 1050 UAH, approximately 30 USD.
These red backpacks were designed for children who suffered from the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam in the Kherson region. We received awesome feedback from the children and thousands of requests to get the same for the children of Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, and other cities and towns in Ukraine. And we did so, by delivering such backpacks to families with kids in need to other regions of Ukraine.
We left Mariupol in May. Spent a month under shelling, a month and a half under occupation. And now we have found shelter in Kyiv. We are looking for my husband and trying to free him from captivity.
A huge thank you for the backpack of support. My daughter is 10 years old – she immediately wrapped herself in a blanket, was happy to receive a toy and a treat. And she is generally delighted with the coloring pages.
Thank you very much for such a wonderful gift for my son. He is 2.8 years old, we went to the post office together, he was really waiting when it was opened – it was immediately felt with how much love every thing was packed, how everything was thought out. The child liked it very much, he just started to draw right away. A toy – is a delight as well. My son unfolded the blanket and immediately ran to the bed with it, covered himself and lay down.
