Dobrodiy Club in March. What did we manage to succeed?
The first month of spring has brought a lot of cool news, which we are happy to share with you! Exciting meetings, high-quality leisure and impressive numbers — all these happened to us in March. So let’s start enjoying the results of the work together!
“Place of Power”: a safe space for teenagers
This month, 152 exciting events took place, engaging 1329 visitors. We continue to organize cool meetings and useful workshops for teenagers.
In March, we held an English Speaking Club hosted by John, a driver on the London Underground. We compared the culture and traditions of England and Ukraine and improved our English! Another new format of events has also started within the space: War-life balance: How to support yourself in modern reality. These are useful meetings with a psychologist and guest stars, where we learn effective tools that help overcome stress. And every weekend, the Interactive Theater always gathers a full hall of participants. Children have a unique opportunity to learn acting skills from professionals in their field.
Here are the most popular events in March:
- workshop with veteran and writer Oleksandr Teren;
- acting and storytelling courses;
- an inspiring meeting with the presenter and TV producer Yehor Gordeev;
- “Candle making” workshop;
- a lecture on the fashion industry with the co-founder of Ukrainian Fashion Week Iryna Danylevska;
- workshop with blogger Maryna Serdeshnyuk;
- “Thermomosaic” workshop.
Urgent assistance for families in need
In March, 260 young Ukrainians from the Mykolaiv region received their long-awaited backpacks of support.
All of this would not be possible without our volunteer staff: 11 people helped out at the warehouse this month. Online support in the verification center was provided by 9 volunteers.
Social & Emotional support for teens in Kyiv and Chernihiv region in cooperation with UNICEF
The workshop “How to support yourself in modern reality” helps children find the necessary tools for self-support. In March, we visited Chernihiv, where we held an event for 104 teenagers. This time the invited guest was the famous singer INGRET, who shared her advice with us:
“Talk to yourself. Make a date with yourself. It is up to you to choose who you will become in life: a bot or a person.”
The notebook for self-support
This notebook is designed to help children learn more about themselves, understand their own emotions, and find an inner point of support during the war. The notebook contains a variety of activities that will help you have fun, recharge and calm your mind and body anywhere – in the shelter during air alerts or just at home after studying. This month, 248 children received self-help notebooks.
Creative classes for psycho-emotional support
In order to support children and improve their emotional state, the Dobrodiy Club in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) created a comprehensive project of psycho-emotional assistance for Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, which were the first to face a full-scale invasion. It is an hour and a half of creative activities, during which children get the opportunity to express their own emotions through art, and also get to know their friends in the classroom better.
In March, 961 children took part in Artcode creative workshops, and 1,085 children took part in the Interactive Theater.
Partnership with Plan International in Mykolayiv region
Workshop on personal boundaries protection “Safeteen”.
In March, another useful workshop on protecting personal boundaries “Safeteen” took place, in which 110 teenagers from the city of Mykolaiv took part. Together with the star guest, actress and volunteer Anastasia Pustovit, we learned to say “no” and take responsibility for our actions and emotions.
Diaries of Confidence.
1,896 diaries are already sent to the teenagers of the Mykolaiv region. The notebook contains exercises and tasks that will help you develop confidence and resilience, defend your own boundaries and get along with your peers.
Detoxic show for teenagers.
“Dobrodiy Club” in partnership with Plan International created the YouTube “DeToxic Show” – the first Ukrainian-language YouTube project for teenagers. A show where deep thoughts intertwine with humor. The project helps teenagers understand how to cope with various life situations, for example:
- How to recognize red flags in a relationship?
- What to do if the parents have different views on the child’s future?
- Is it worth getting to know each other in social networks?
We have 3.75 thousand subscribers and a total of more than 500 thousand views. In March, we published 20 videos: 3 full and 17 shorts. Follow the link and support cool Ukrainian content.
